COMMON PIERCING QUESTIONS
PIERCING PRACTICES
-
What type of piercings do you do?
-
Do you pierce with needles or guns?
We pierce with single-use needles – never guns!
All our piercings are done with a single-use, autoclave-sterilized needle. We use needles because they are single-use and able to be fully sterilized and allow our piercers to pierce more accurately. Needles results in less tissue trauma and shorter healing time.
All of our materials and jewelry are sterilized in a medical-grade statim sterilizing machine.
Our piercing jewelry is made of implant-grade metals, with flat-back titanium or surgical steel labrets. -
What is your piercing jewelry made of?
All of our piercing jewelry is made of high-quality, implant-grade metals: surgical steel, titanium, or 14k gold. All of our piercing jewelry is hypoallergenic, as is some of our non-piercing jewelry (any sterling silver options). If you have a nickel allergy you’ll want to choose one of our titanium or 14k gold pieces.

-
How many piercings can I get at once?
For safety reasons and optimal healing, we allow you to get up to two piercings at once.
-
What jewelry can I get pierced with?
Great question! Fashion and piercing jewelry differ in their construction and materials, and piercing jewelry is optimized for safety and healing for your new holes! All of our piercing jewelry is made of high-quality, implant-grade metals: surgical steel, titanium, or 14k gold, and are on flat-backed labrets which are best for healing. We never pierce with butterfly-back earrings as these are not as safe for the piercing or healing process. Our piercing jewelry is only available in-stores, but some of our piercing styles are also available as fashion studs!
For safety and healing purposes, we only pierce with Studs piercing jewelry – but we have plenty of options! There’s something for everyone :)

AFTERCARE

How do I take care of my piercing? How long will my piercing take to heal?
Healing varies based on piercing placement and each person’s body.
Lobe piercings take around 2 months, while everything else will take around 6-12 months.
Remember to clean the front and back of your piercing daily with saline!

I think my piercing might be infected. What’s normal? What should I do?
After a piercing, it's normal to experience slight bleeding, swelling, tenderness, itching, bruising, or soreness. As your piercing begins to heal you may also experience “crusties” around your piercing, as new skin cells are beginning to form. This typically lasts only a few weeks. If you experience any symptoms such as: fever, area warm to the touch, pain that is throbbing and spreading, burning or extreme pain, or any symptoms that seem to be getting progressively worse, we recommend you see a doctor as soon as possible. We’re more than happy to have you come back in to the Studio and have a piercer take a look if you have any concerns!
-
How do I remove my jewelry once it’s healed?
The way you remove the earring depends on the type of piercing earring you have.
Threaded: Hold the post with your index finger and thumb, then lightly rotate it to the left, delicately unscrewing the back until it separates from the front.
Push Pin Earring: Grasp the back of the earring with your index finger and thumb. Pull outward on the earring back while slowly increasing the pressure until it loosens and the earring comes undone.
Fixed Bead and Seamless Hoop: Move the hoop’s hinge out from the earring hole towards the bottom of your lobe. Once the connection point is outside of your ear, gently grasp each side of the clicker and pull apart, taking care to not snag the earring.
Captive Fixed Bead Ring: Hold the end of the hoop that is fixed to the bead with your index finger, then use your other hand to gently bend the ring.
